• Overseeing and managing the day-to-day responsibilities of the front desk team
• Perform and manage the front desk duties; new customers, retail sales, member check-in
• instruct new climbers in introductory lesson, including belay method, gym safety, knot tying
• maintain gym cleanliness
• assist active gym climbers in continuing safe practices + techniques
• provide stellar customer service to everyone who enters our community

ANN ARBOR | TEAM COACH

Planet Rock Youth Program Team Coaches play a crucial role in fostering a positive and structured training environment for youth climbers. They work within a coaching system to execute training plans developed by the Head Coach while engaging with climbers during practice and providing meaningful feedback.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implement training plans created by the Head Coach.
• Engage with climbers during practice, providing feedback and encouragement
• Work closely with fellow coaches to ensure productive practices.
• Teach climbing techniques to a wide range of youth athletes.
• Set and enforce boundaries to foster a safe and positive environment.
• Assist in monitoring athlete progress and filling out reports as needed.
• Promote climbing programs and encourage participation.
• Attend training sessions and stay up to date on climbing safety standards.
• Enforce the gym’s code of conduct in alignment with Planet Rock’s mission, vision, and values.
• Support a positive and engaging training environment.
• Collaborate with desk staff to ensure smooth gym operations during practice.

- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership
- Regular and consistent availability (same practice days and times over multiple weeks)
- Top Rope Belaying Skills can be taught – no experience required!
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Youth Coaches will partner with Lead Coaches to plan and execute training programming
- Monitor energy levels and support athlete while ensuring program activities promote our core values
- Deliver outstanding customer experience that helps inspire young climbers to stay focused and present
- Create a welcoming and safe environment for youth climbers and the local climbing community
- Communicate any issues or concerns with coaching staff and the management team
