PLANET ROCK COVID SAFETY
We appreciate your support + patience - we will be adapting the plan as we learn more. To maintain the highest level of safety + wellbeing (and fun) for our entire community, please familiarize yourself with our updated gym procedures + policies prior to your next climbing visit.
Members + Punch-pass only
Climbing sessions are available to current Members and Punch-pass holders. Climbers age 16+ who completed an intro lesson + passed a belay check prior to March 16, 2020 are able to purchase a Monthly or Annual membership online or over the phone. If you are an experienced climber but have not climbed at our gym yet, give us a call! We are happy to see which type of membership you qualify for.
Reserve your space online
Sessions are in 2-week increments, with registration opening Friday at 12:00 for the following 2 weeks. Sign up for sessions via our website or directly through your Planet Rock account. Session hours vary between locations. Upon arrival to your session, please wait outside until your designated time to enter the gym.
Cancel your climbing session up to 30 min in advance by clicking the “cancel” button in your Planet Rock account. To cancel a session less than 30 minutes prior, call the gym. For the benefit of our entire climbing community, please cancel your session as soon as possible so that others can take advantage of the availability.
Route Availability
All routes remain open daily. Please practice social distancing at all times both on and off the wall, staggering climb times and giving other climbers + belayers plenty of space. Ann Arbor bouldering room is limited to 30 people at a time.
Gear + Equipment
We are renting gear! But highly encourage bringing your own gear when you climb. Gear rentals are available (limited rentals depending on use) harnesses $4, shoes $5, ATC $2. Lead ropes remain unavailable. We also ask that you refrain from biting ropes (even your personal rope) when climbing.
All climbing equipment + shoes remain in the climbing areas only. Please take climbing shoes off after climbing session, do not wear into bathrooms or pro shop area. Bare feet are still unacceptable – pack flip flops or other footwear to use around the gym.
Locker rooms + showers are closed – bring in only what you need to climb. Please keep your personal water bottle in a backpack / bag and stow away immediately after drinking.
Masks required
Everyone in the gym (staff included) are required to wear a DIY or manufactured mask. Masks must be actively worn during all times in the gym, including both climbing + belaying and working out in fitness areas.
Choose a cloth mask that covers both nose + mouth. No buffs, gaiters, bandannas or masks with respirators. We have plenty of single-use masks behind the counter if you need one! Please save the surgical masks + N-95 respirators for health care workers and other medical first responders.

Temperature checks
Upon entrance, every climber is temperature checked using a touchless device. If your temperature is over 100.4 degrees, we ask that you climb with us another time.
Cleaning + disinfecting + sanitizing
In addition to cleaning at the end of each climbing session, gym areas are cleaned + disinfected multiple times throughout the day. Special attention is given to high-traffic areas such as entrances/exits and bathrooms. Sanitizing stations are set up throughout the gym, please use before and after climbing.
Climb safely
We reserve the right to ask any climbers exhibiting symptoms (such as coughing) or not following health + safety protocols to visit the gym another time. If you are feeling unwell or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, stay home – we look forward to seeing you when you are 100%. If you observe another patron disregarding new procedures, please let a staff member know. Our goal is to create a space that is safe + respectful for all members of our community.
