Goes Cold: Indoor Ice Climbing
December 7 @ 3:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Learn what ice climbing is all about! Our coldest event of the year brings ice climbing indoors with special routes, giant blocks of ice, equipment demos, ice cold treats + an ice climbing film.
Activities + routes
Ever wonder what the giant poles in the corner were for? “Ice” climbing! Use our gear – boots, crampons, gloves, helmets, axes – to climb your way up 50′ using standard ice climbing techniques. Or bring your own! Dry-tooling equipment + routes available to try out as well. *We highly recommend wearing long pants + sleeves while climbing the poles. Compete in our ice-axe lock off competition! Win some great swag + prizes if you hold on the longest.
Gear Demos + Expert Chats
Bringing the latest in ice climbing equipment, reps from great outdoor companies such as Black Diamond, Scarpa + Sportiva are joining us to answer all your questions about gear. Also visit with reps from the American Alpine Club, Michigan Ice Fest + Moosejaw. Get great info about upcoming programs and Michigan climbing opportunities.

We’re setting up the big screen and getting our “stadium” gym seating ready! Ann Arbor native Mike Wilkinson’s adventure documentary of Appalachia ice climbers as they race to search out and climb new ice routes before they’re gone. Catch a sneak peek of the trailer. Lawn chairs are welcome to set up on the concrete flooring, blankets + bottoms only for mats. Gym is closed for climbing at this time.
