Adaptive + La Cumbre Film Night
September 21 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Join us for a fabulous film night, beer (from our friends at Moosejaw) + raffle, with special guest adaptive wrestler Zach Gowen!
We are partnering with our friends at ROMP (Range Of Motion Project) to raise awareness + support their $5,000 goal during their 5th annual Climbing for ROMP event. Every dollar raised goes directly to helping amputees receive the prosthetic care they need to regain mobility.
Films + Fun
Jim Ewing – a Sterling Rope engineer and below-the-knee amputee – enlists professional climber, Maureen Beck – born without her left hand – to attempt the first all-adaptive ascent of the über classic and deeply remote Lotus Flower Tower (5.10+) in Canada’s Cirque of the Unclimbables. As their adventure unfolds, we see that the ability to adapt is universal and a common thread that unites us.
Kathy Pico, an Ecuadorian native, lost her leg to cancer at age 38. Reassessing her life’s value, Kathy turned to alpinism. On July 28, 2017, Kathy attempted to summit Cayambe–Ecuador’s third tallest volcano at 18,996 feet–alongside Chad Jukes, a world-class mountaineer and wounded warrior. La Cumbre (The Summit) explores what it means to live as an amputee in the developing world and the power of pursuing things once believed impossible.
Meet Zach Gowen
The first one-legged professional wrestler, Zach is a former WWE Superstar and American Ninja Warrior contestant. He’s currently a ROMP ambassador, yoga instructor, author, professional speaker and amateur dad.
