ANN ARBOR | YOUTH COACH
Thank you for your interest in our Ann Arbor location Youth Program Coach position! This application is also for individuals applying to work Youth Summer Camps in Ann Arbor.
Our ideal candidate is kind, respectful, energetic and interested in supporting the positive Planet Rock culture we climb in daily. Our goal is to help climbers feel respected, valued and excited to be a part of our community, no matter their ability level or prior climbing experience. Previous experience working with groups of children aged 4-15 is desired, but not required for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Upbeat and adaptable attitude that fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Passion for working with youth and developing youth climbing athletes
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership
- Regular and consistent availability (same practice days and times over multiple weeks)
- Top Rope Belaying Skills can be taught – no experience required!
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Youth Coaches will partner with Lead Coaches to plan and execute training programming
- Monitor energy levels and support athlete while ensuring program activities promote our core values
- Deliver outstanding customer experience that helps inspire young climbers to stay focused and present
- Create a welcoming and safe environment for youth climbers and the local climbing community
- Communicate any issues or concerns with coaching staff and the management team
POSITION DETAILS
- Ann Arbor location
- Starting hourly rate $13-$15/hr
- Part-time position (minimum of two days/week)
- Prior climbing experience (indoor or out) preferred
- Prior experience working with children under 16 preferred

ANN ARBOR | CLIMBING INSTRUCTOR
As the first point of contact for customers, Climbing Instructors are expected to support every member of our community – from beginning to experienced climbers. Our goal is to help climbers feel respected, valued and excited to be a part of our community, no matter their ability level or prior climbing experience.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
• assist with front desk duties; new customers, retail sales, member check-in
• instruct new climbers in introductory lesson, including belay method, gym safety, knot tying
• maintain gym cleanliness
• assist active gym climbers in continuing safe practices + techniques
• provide stellar customer service to everyone who enters our community
